The MOU was exchanged between the Guangdong Science and Technology Department and the METI Kansai

The MOU was exchanged between the Guangdong Science and Technology Department and the METI Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Japan-China Workshop for Environmental and Energy-Saving Technologies was held in China.

On March 16, 2016, in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, the People’s Republic of China, the METI Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI-Kansai) and the Guangdong Science and Technology Department concluded a document in relation to intergovernmental cooperation (MOU: Memorandum of Understanding) to promote technological cooperation and information exchange in the environmental and energy-saving areas.

This approach is based on the proposal by the chief of the Division of Science and Technology Exchange and Cooperation of the Guangdong Science and Technology Department to request the METI-Kansai to establish cooperative relationship with such division for introduction of advanced technologies to such division, when such chief paid a courtesy call on the International Affairs Department of METI-Kansai in November, 2015. On the basis of this proposal, the Japanese parties decided that the member companies of the Team E-Kansai, as main promoters, will address this issue by focusing on environmental and energy-saving areas.

Specifically, in relation to the cooperation projects matched by and between Japan and China, the review committee composed of the experts of both countries will screen them, and then China plans to give its own subsidies to the projects created for the solutions of the environmental problems in Guangdong Province. The Chinese immediate budget scale will range from 500,000 RMB (CNY) to 1 million RMB (RMB 1 roughly equals to JPY 17, as of April, 2016) per project, and around 5 to 10 projects will be adopted annually. Along with the conclusion of this MOU, the Team E-Kansai held the “Japan-China Workshop for Environmental and Energy-Saving Technologies” in the afternoon on the same day, at the same place.

At the workshop, 5 Japanese participant companies made their technological presentations, and the business meetings with 24 Chinese companies were held.

Furthermore, the Team E-Kansai concluded a document to maintain and develop cooperative relationship with the Industrial Association for Environmental Protection of Nanhai District of Foshan City with which the Team had been cooperating for some time, and its key members made a courtesy visit to Mr. Zheng, the chief of such district on March 17, 2016, for exchanging their views.
